Knowledge of C9 petroleum resin

C9 petroleum resin is an oligomer. The characteristics of C9 petroleum resin are low acid value, good miscibility, water resistance, ethanol resistance, and chemical resistance. It is chemically stable to acids and bases, and has the characteristics of good viscosity regulation and thermal stability. Petroleum resin is generally not used alone, but as a promoter, regulator, modifier, and other resins used together.

Application Fields of C9 Petroleum Resin

  1. Application in coatings: C9 petroleum resin can replace "rosin modified phenolic resin" and "rosin calcium ester" in equal quantities to produce C9 petroleum resin varnish and various colored enamel. Its performance can meet the various standards of "F01-1 phenolic varnish" and "F04-1 various colored phenolic enamel". The cost of C9 petroleum resin is only 24.8% of that of "rosin modified phenolic resin", and its application in the paint industry has broad development prospects.

  2. Application in rubber products: C9 petroleum resin can replace Gumaron resin (as a reinforcing and softening agent to reduce product costs), engine oil, softened heavy oil, and other rubber additives, and is applied to oil seal rubber, water tank bend rubber, and various rubber materials such as heat resistance, acid resistance, and alkali resistance. Experiments have shown that C9 petroleum resin has better viscosity enhancement than coumarone resin, and can increase the amount of recycled rubber and filler in the rubber formula, reduce the amount of natural rubber, and reduce the cost of rubber products while ensuring product performance.

3 Application in adhesives: C9 petroleum resin and an equal amount of natural rubber can be mixed in solvent to obtain a pressure-sensitive adhesive, which can be used as a bonding agent when coated on a substrate such as kraft paper, cloth or cellophane. Natural rubber and C9 petroleum resin do not have adhesive properties when used alone. If the two are mixed, it will clearly demonstrate the adhesive properties of rubber.
